Year 5, to start their new topic called Allotment, went on a school trip to the Children’s Centre Farm. The weather was fantastic so the children were able to enjoy planting trees and rose bushes to attract bees. In the poly tunnels at the farm they learnt about propagation, compost making and seed planting. Finally they got to visit the animals on the farm and learn about what they eat. The trip finished with a picnic in the conservation area on the hills above the farm. It was a brilliant start to our topic and year 5 would like to thank the parent helpers without who these trips could not go ahead.
They also planted trees at school with the help of the Isle of Man Woodland Trust as well as Mr Higgins. These trees have been planted on the edge of the school field - hopefully, one day, they will provide some more shelter from the windy spot we're in!
