Congratulations to our Chess Team for coming in the top 5 of the 16 teams that entered the 2017 annual Chess Congress, supported by Onchan Rotary Club. Teams from schools across the island met at CYB yesterday to play 2 hours of chess and there was a really high standard of play indeed. Well done to Kewaigue School for their convincing win overall.
Our team comprising of Miltos (captain), Leon, William, Aedan, Maxwell, Nathan and Mya all did really well indeed, reflecting hours of practice time during break and lunchtimes over the past few weeks. There was a special prize awarded to Leon in Y3 for achieving the highest score in the youngest player category, which he shares with a pupil from another school. Leon managed to win all his matches to take maximum points. A special mention also to Mya, who was the 2nd top scorer in all of the 18 girls that took part.
