There were some very excited pupils from Cronk y Berry last week joining a group from Unity Dance School, heading to Disneyland Paris for The International Festival of Dance and Performing Arts. This is an all-genre competition, which sees dance schools from all over the world competing. Some of the other competitors were from America, Spain, Dubai, Jordan, Israel, Ireland, Scotland and Wales.
Unity Dance School had 49 dancers competing aged four to 21, and won 14 trophies.
Darcie, Ella and Tilly said that they were so excited to be going to the competition and describe their very busy weekend. After an early start, they arrived in Paris on Thursday and had some time to explore the park. Friday was a free day to go on the rides and enjoy the delights Disney has to offer. Saturday was competition day which meant an early start for hair, make and several outfit changes! The girls all said that their favourite dance was Grease where they were dressed up as the pink
ladies!
On Sunday they were part of the famous Disney parade where they joined the other dance schools to perform a routine. They did this on repeat around the park which was for 750 metres!
They were delighted to win 14 trophies (5 firsts 8 seconds and 1 third) including:
Ella, Darcie, Tilly and Evie placed 1st winning the junior jazz.
