Dear Parents and Children,
During our assembly on Monday, representatives from Crossroads Care spoke to the children and staff about their latest fundraising initiative. Named ‘Carers wear capes’, they invited us all to consider taking part in a Superhero Mile Challenge for 100 days, starting on either May 1st, June 1st or July 1st. This fun challenge involves asking family and friends for sponsorship for every mile achieved through walking, running, cycling, swimming, scootering etc. Miles can be clocked up over the 100 day period and recorded on a chart and can include any combination of methods.
We are also inviting parents and staff to take part and the miles can be counted using treadmills, exercise bikes, walking the dog, playing golf, horse riding etc.
In order to get started parents and children who wish to take part will need to pay £1.00 and collect a sponsorship pack which contains further information and materials to get you going on the challenge. These can be purchased from school from today.
There is a chart included in the pack which shows destinations to aim for, the approximate distance in miles, and a superhero status for each level achieved, e.g. 10 miles achieved takes you to Castletown, 80 miles to Liverpool and 800 miles to Italy!
We do hope many of you will be willing to take part in this good cause, supporting a local charity whilst also providing a personal challenge to get fit and enjoy exercise during the summer months.
Yours sincerely,
Mr Sellors
