Beth Penhallurick from the Wildlife Trust visited Reception this week to talk about animals and their habitats. We worked with Beth to make bird feeders using lard, pinecones and bird seed and recycled newspaper to create plant pots. We planted sunflower seeds in our pots to attract the bees and butterflies.
It became an extra special visit when we were awarded the Wilder Award for completing nature activities. This included weeding raised planters and planting wildflower seeds. We also learnt how to create compost and used the compost from our bin to plant our flowers . We found that worms were good for the soil!
Congratulations to the Reception team for such a wonderful award.
