The individual needs of children will, in the vast majority of cases, be catered for within the classroom by the class teacher. However, occasionally a child may be identified as having additional needs. In such situations, the school’s Special Educational Needs Co- ordinator (SENCo) works with the class teacher to provide advice and support in meeting the child’s additional needs.
With consent from parents, observations or diagnostic assessments may be undertaken to gather further information about the child’s specific needs. A plan to address the additional needs is then put in place. The school will keep parents informed of the provision their child receives and the progress made.
